A goal in each half from Armand Gnanduillet saw the home side ease to a 2-0 victory at the Matchroom Stadium.

Reds managed to muster just one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes and had goalkeeper Paul Jones to thank for a number of second-half saves.

Yates apologised to the 301 travelling Crawley fans and said: “I thought we were waiting to get beat.

“I didn’t think they were anything special in the first half and we have tried to liven one or two up, liven the whole group up at half-time and the reaction was pathetic.

“Paul Jones has kept us in the game and we made them look like Barcelona in the second half. We were the making of our own downfall.

“There was no aggression, we weren’t competitive enough and we got pushed aside. There was nothing in the game first half, but I just felt we were waiting to get beat and that disappoints me.

“I now need a big reaction on Tuesday night. We got a good point last week where we had to scrap for everything.

“I have said that all season, every point that we get, every win we get, we have to let people know that we are there and aren’t going to give up easy. Today, I didn’t see that from minute one to minute 93.

“It’s not good enough and we have to much better.

“I don’t really want to say what I think at the minute, It was just pathetic and we have to analysis it quickly.”
