The hosts took the lead after only two minutes through Scott Murfin but Arundel levelled on 19 minutes when Jordan Clark fired home a half-volley from 25 yards.

Pagham’s Josh Clack hit a post on 26 minutes, while Mullets’ Scott Tipper and Nathan Da Costa caused problems for the Lions defence as the half went on but the sides went into the break all square.

Arundel went ahead just four minutes into the second half when Tipper side-footed home Da Costa’s cross after Clark’s quick free kick for his 22nd goal of the season.

Lewis Jenkins was then denied by Pagham stopper James Binfield when he got through one-on-one.

Pagham equalised on the hour when Matt Wood put a free kick into the penalty area and Jake Hawker scored.

Tipper missed the target from distance as Mullets looked for a winner, while Arundel keeper James Fernandes came out well to deny Pagham on 80 minutes and Wood fired a stinging shot just past the post in the closing stages.

Mullets boss Simon Butler said: “We started slowly for the first 20 minutes but then picked it up and looked a good side.

“I was pleased with the way we played and a point at Pagham is always a good result.”
