Attwood on target but Hastings lose again

A goal from the returning Zac Attwood couldn’t prevent Hastings United suffering a third successive league defeat.

Making his first appearance since returning to the club last week, Attwood was on target during United’s 2-1 loss away to Wealdstone on Saturday.

Attwood netted United’s first goal in four games in the 78th minute, latching onto a long ball out of defence and holding off his marker before slotting past the goalkeeper.

United were already two goals down by that stage, however, courtesy of Richard Jolly’s brace in the final five minutes of the first half in this Ryman Football League Premier Division fixture.

Attwood partnered fellow new signing Chamal Fenelon in a new-look United attack, although otherwise it was the same starting line-up as that which lost 2-0 at home to Hendon the previous weekend.

United: Anderson, Dixon, Bolwell (Billings), Crellin, Manning, Jirbandey, Fenelon (Pogue), Thomson (Foreman), Attwood, Carey, Sutton. Subs not used: Ray, Paine.

A full report will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
