Baker delighted to get involved in bread and butter of Rocks' U19 campaign

So much so that the attacker was on the bench -- although he didn't get on -- for the Rocks in their FA Cup victory over South Park courtesy of a 4-2 penalty shootout triumph.

Unfazed at not seeing any action, Baker (pictured) pulled on a Rocks shirt once more yesterday to line up for the club's U19 outfit in liaison with Chichester College Football Academy. This time it was to face Hungerford Town in the U19 Alliance League and Baker clearly enjoyed himself, bagging two goals in a pulsating 3-2 win over the visitors at Nyewood Lane.

Baker made a handful of appearances for the first team last season and was in an around the squad for the best part of the season. On this evidence, his development continues apace and can only be encouraging for his chances of making an impact on a regular basis for Pearce and Blake.

It was a hard-fought win over a resolute and determined Hungerford outfit but a deserved one none the less. Matt Storm hit the other goal for the home side, who had to call on deep reserves of resolve to repel an avalanche of attacks during a second-half dominated by the visitors. But hold out they did to secure the win.

The young Rocks get the chance to shine once more when they come up against Eastleigh at the Nye Camp next Wednesday, September 30, with a 1pm kick-off. Fans with an eye for the future Rocks prospects -- Baker, arguably, being chief among them -- are urged to take in the game. Admission is free.
