Brighton head to MK Dons for their Championship clash knowing a win will see them move up to second in the table.

It will be an emotional day for Albion’s Baldock as he comes up against his old side. Baldock made 102 appearances for Dons over a five-year period after breaking into the first-team fold.

He admits it is still a team close to his heart and said: “It’s a great club and I love the place because they gave me a chance.

“I was there until 22 years old and I feel I left at the best time. They are fighting for safety in this league and I hope they stay up.

“They have made massive progress over the last few years. The chairman has great passion and also now with the manager who has great ideas.”

Saturday’s clash will also see Baldock come up against his younger brother, George, who has forced his way into the Dons team after an impressive loan spell at League Two Oxford United.

Sam admitted football talk has been strictly off the agenda in the build-up to this weekend’s game.

He said: “I have always tried to watch his games and we like getting feedback from one another.

“I can’t tell him about defending but I tell him what areas to exploit as an attacker, I haven’t told him anything this week, though.

“We are almost best friends but we don’t talk about football leading up to games.

“We are both fighting for something and we wont give any advantage to the other team.”
