Battling Bosham are felled at Forest

Forest went second in Sussex League division three with a tough and dramatic win over a determined Bosham side who just couldn't find their finish.

The match got off to a frenetic start and Marco Giambelardini was instrumental in the majority of Bosham attacks and showed great skill and class on the ball.

John Pope again showed quality between the sticks, making key saves from the likes of Paul White and the ever-dangerous Jake Holmes.

The deadlock was broken close to half time when Bosham found their touch. After excellent work down the right, Kieran Hartley surged towards the box and produced a perfect cut-back to Giambelardini who took aim and slotted past Bruce Dumbrell in the Forest goal.

Getting their noses in front seemed to galvanise Bosham and they were an improved force.

However, the Tangerines fought back well in the second half and restored parity with a quarter of the game to go as Holmes was the beneficiary of panic in the Bosham defence.

Both sides went in search of a winner and it was Forest who found it in injury time through Andy Lampard from close range – that after Bosham had hit the bar and post at the other end.

The disappointment etched on the Bosham faces after the game said it all after a determined and passionate performance.

A draw would have been the fairer result but Bosham are constantly improving and will no doubt take great heart from the performance.
