Beeding making strides on and off the pitch

They currently sit top of Division 2 with a two point lead over nearest rivals and second-placed Roffey.

But it has not just been a success story on the pitch this season as improvements are also being made off it.

Last month, Upper Beeding Parish Council chairman Simon Birnstingl and sport and leisure committee chairman Bob Harber were invited along to officially open Beeding’s newly-refurbished changing rooms.

Club secretary David Rowland went to the Parish Council with a plan earlier this year – which was approved – and Beeding have been making improvements ever since.

Rowland managed the project and oversaw old wiring being replaced, remodelling of interior space and the installation of new showers.

Beeding chairman Nick Dungay is delighted with the new look and said: “The improved changing rooms have given the whole club a lift and are appropriate for our recent promotion into the Southern Combination League.

“We really appreciate the support that the Parish Council have given to the club over the past few years – not only in helping us with the changing room project, but also with the investment they make in maintaining the football pitch each year.”

Birnstingl admitted Beeding Parish Council were always going to support after hearing the potential plans and said: “The Parish Council is always happy to support local sports clubs and the good work they do in encouraging healthy lifestyles.”

Upper Beeding would also like to thank Beeding and Bramber Cricket Club for their support.

The cricket club will also be using the new facilities and managed to continue playing throughout the summer, despite building work.
