BEST wishes have been sent across Twitter to Lewes chairman Steve Ibbitson after the former Rooks boss broke his ankle in a friendly match at the Dripping Pan on Wednesday night.
Ibbo was playing in a game between Lewes Directors and Ringmer Community College teachers when he was badly injured in a challenge with an opponent.
He was taken to Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he was kept in overnight.
At the time of going to press yesterday, he was due to go into theatre for an operation, and was expected to be kept in for one or two further days. The injury sounds a particularly nasty one.
Writing late on Wednesday night, Gigi Ancora tweeted: “Ibbo has broken his ankle (a complete break), he is having it re set now.”
David Arnold, who was watching the match when the accident happened, described the injury as a break to his foot and heel.
It wasn’t long before messages of support were being posted on Twitter. Rooks supporters feed Sofa Rooks posted: “Get well soon to club legend Steve Ibbitson who broke his ankle playing in a friendly at the Pan against Ringmer College.”
Meanwhile, another pre-season friendly has been announced. Lewes will host Eastbourne Borough at the Pan on Friday, August 3.
