The Pirates will visit Sussex County Football League Division Two leaders Eastbourne United AFC tonight (Tuesday) full of confidence on the back of four successive victories.

Bexhill manager Kenny McCreadie said: “I’m very much looking forward to it and the players are looking forward to it. I think only the one team has beaten them in the league this year and that was the wee Bexhill wasn’t it.

“I’ve met Simon (Rowland, Eastbourne manager) a couple of times and I’ve been discussing things with him so it will be good banter on Tuesday, but we’re here to win it. I think he says it was a freak result the last time, well we’ll see what happens on Tuesday.”

Eastbourne are a point clear of second-placed Haywards Heath Town with three games in hand, although Bexhill will be hoping they have one eye on their hotly-anticipated FA Vase last 32 tie against Hanworth Villa at the weekend.

Bexhill, who came from 2-0 down to pull off a highly improbable 3-2 win in September’s reverse fixture, moved into the top five by beating Storrington 4-2 on Saturday and another victory tonight would put them level on points with fourth-placed Broadbridge Heath. Kick-off at The Oval is 7.45pm.
