Bexhill stay unbeaten

Bexhill United continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw away to Broadbridge Heath on Saturday.

Darrol Parris, Bexhill’s manager, considered it a decent point against fellow undefeated opposition in Sussex County Football League Division Two even though Bexhill took the lead just before half time through Josh Elliott-Noye.

Heath got on top during the second half and grabbed a deserved equaliser. Bexhill goalkeeper Joe Rogers also pulled off some top class saves, although Steve Morris came close to making it 2-0 at one stage.

There was little good news elsewhere, though. Sidley United produced their worst performance of the season to slump 3-0 at home to Horsham YMCA in Sussex Division One.

Andy Hales squandered a great chance to put Sidley ahead early on and YM took command with two goals in the closing 20 minutes of the first half. A third goal eight minutes into the second half sealed Sidley’s fate.

Back to Division Two and leaders Little Common saw their six-match winning run brought to an emphatic end away to a strong Eastbourne United AFC side on Friday night. Former Common striker Drew Greenall was among the scorers.

Westfield lost 2-0 at home to a similarly potent Littlehampton Town team in round one of the John O’Hara League Challenge Cup. Both goals came in quick succession during the first half.
