With winger Andy Garman set to join Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One rivals Ringmer, the Pirates will be aiming to develop young talent during the second half of the season.

Bexhill manager Marc Munday said: “I can’t blame Andy. He’s been offered good money and it’s really hard to compete, especially if you’re not contending to win anything this season. I wish him all the best. He’s a good friend of mine and he’s been a good player for the club over the years.

“The club are quite happy with where they are at the minute, an established county two side. We’ve got a win bonus, but we’ve not got a budget to try and push, especially at this stage.

“I want to win every single game I play, but my job really is developing these youngsters. Hopefully these youngsters can get some good football under their belt this season that might put us in good stead for the start of next season.”

Munday expects to have around half-a-dozen under-21 players in the squad which hosts Lingfield tomorrow (Saturday). The likes of Corey Wheeler, Leroy Andrews and Sam Roberts could all feature.

Jack Aston and Nathan Tudor are starting three-match suspensions, and Sam Cooper is banned for the next two games. Dan Cruikshank is an injury doubt.
