Big week for Rye hopes

The Quarterboys will resume their bid for the Sussex County Football League Division One title with a home game against Redhill tomorrow (Saturday).

After that thoughts will turn to an eagerly-anticipated Sussex RUR Charity Cup semi-final against old adversaries Three Bridges at the Sussex County Ground, Lancing, on Tuesday night.

No matches have taken place in Division One this month so the table remains as it was at the end of January with Rye holding a six-point lead over second-placed Lancing having played an extra match.

Fifth-placed Bridges are 14 points off the pace with six games in hand, but will be desperately hoping to start playing again with their fixtures starting to pile up.

Price also has a few problems in defence because captain Shaun Loft starts a three-match suspension and fellow centre-half Phil Rhodes, who has had a splendid season so far, is still in Kenya.

Jono Richardson is likely to come into the middle and Price must decide whether to drop Scott Ramsay back there from his usual attacking role, bring Ben Radley across from full-back or give Kevin Rose his chance.

A Rye side which has scored 110 goals in all competitions this season will be without the banned Duncan McArthur for both games over the coming week.
