Billy’s Horsham return a Dunn deal

Horsham manager Simon Colbran has landed one of his two attacking targets with the signing of Billy Dunn.

The forward had a spell at the club during the 2010/11 season and returns with the side desperately in search of goals to stave off relegation.

“Billy’s signed, that’s all been completed,” Hornets boss Colbran said. “We were looking for forwards and I’ve been able to bring in Cham (Fenelon) and now Billy, I’m still talking to another. Billy’s a very good player and I’m hoping they’ll score the goals we’re looking for.”

After leaving Horsham Dunn had a spell at Tooting & Mitcham, but more recently he’s been concentrating on boxing. “Because he’s a boxer fitness won’t be an issue, but obviously his touch and finishing might need some work on, but he’s got ten games to get that back,” Colbran added.

Dunn will go straight into the squad for this Wednesday’s visit of Whitstable Town and as a further boost, Gary Charman, James Brockhurst and Eddie Koboah are also fit and available to play. Billy-Joe King and Karly Akehurst have also overcome knocks from the Dulwich defeat.

Charman’s return in particular is a much-needed fillip after the assistant boss has been missing for more than a month with a groin problem, and Wednesday’s game is being seen as a huge chance to end a run of 14 matches without a win.

The trio’s return is extremely timely, with Walton Casuals’ win last midweek pushing Horsham down to second bottom and with bottom of the table The Bridges breathing down their neck.

It is the only real positive of the persistent bad weather which continues to disrupt everyone’s season and saw Horsham’s game against Hythe Town called off on Saturday - the seventh postponement the Hornets have had this year.

Colbran said: “It’s the worst I’ve known as manager, it’s unbelievable and frustrating to say the least.

“It’s affected everybody although we’ve played less games then those around us so that’s not helped because it’s put us under extra pressure. The only positive is it’s allowed us to get our players back, we should have a full squad on Wednesday and having Gary back will be like a new signing.”
