Birch tells fans: Pompey are two weeks away from liquidation

Administrator Trevor Birch has told a delegation of Pompey fans the club is two weeks from going out of business.

Members of the Pompey SOS group had gone to the Blues’ training ground this morning to hand letters to the players pleading with them to waive their wages.

Four of the five players accepted the letter. However. Pompey’s highest wage earner, Tal Ben Haim, refused the letter.

He drove into the club’s Eastleigh base without stopping.

Pompey SOS member Bob Beech went into the training ground to hand a copy of the letter to the club’s administrator Birch.

After coming out, Mr Beech said: ‘Trevor Birch told us that Kanu is the main problem because his agent is looking for ridiculous amounts of money.

‘We have been reassured by Trevor Birch that this is not case of crying wolf - we are two weeks from going under and being liquidated.

‘He looked us in the eye and told us we can use that as a direct quote from him.’
