Blues get back inthe groove on aday when most others sit it out

They may have been facing the bottom team on Saturday but Heath were coming off the the back of two tough draws, while Shipley were fresh from holding Billingshurst to a goalless draw.

That meant nothing could be taken for granted but Blues boss Simon Corless got his team back in the right frame of mind and despite a surface that deteriorated badly in the second half, they cruised to a much-needed win.

Credit Shipley for never giving up but they failed to pull one save from Hyde all afternoon and were fortunate to get away without conceding more than three.

On a different day Heath top scorer Kieran Purkis could have finished with half a dozen instead of one but in the conditions it was understandable he sometimes over elaborated.

His quality and that of his team-mates, despite their fair share of injuries, was still evident and they thoroughly deserve a top two finish and promotion back to senior football at the end of the season.

They should have had a penalty before the impressive Jamie Wanstall opened the scoring on 15 minutes when he followed up a Purkis shot that Mark Whitmarsh did well to save.
