Blues launch appeal for funds

Sidley United are currently unable to use their Gullivers ground

As well as being left without a home ground after parent company Sidley Sports & Social Club ceased trading at the end of April, the unavailability of Gullivers has also hurt Sidley in terms of fundraising.

The club has traditionally generated vital funds through boot sales during the summer months, but will have to seek alternative sources of income this year in their absence.

With that in mind, a ‘Save Sidley United FC’ appeal has been set up to help secure the funds the club needs in order to continue and more than £350 has already been raised.

Established in 1906, Sidley were founder members of Sussex County Football League Division Two in 1952. The Blues won Division One for the first time in the 2000/01 campaign, as well as lifting the John O’Hara League Cup.

Under the management of John Lambert, Sidley have secured mid-table finishes in Division One for each of the last three seasons and have won the Hastings & District FA Senior Cup three times in the last four years.
