The Isthmian League board have announced that, following the latest Government review, they have unanimously agreed to continue with the pause of the campaign.

And in a Rocks club statement, Cook said: "The League has decided to continue with the current pause in league football in light of the worsening situation in the South East, and bearing in mind that over three quarters of Isthmian League clubs now find themselves in Tier 3.

"The committee of Bognor Regis Town fully support the Isthmian League’s stance. The club feel that it would be completely wrong to put the playing of football before the health of its supporters, players, staff and volunteers. We also realise that many of our playing staff live in the new Tier 3 areas and that we are urged to reduce unnecessary travel. We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to be able to return to competitive action as soon as it is practical in the New Year.

"We are also mindful of the many supporters who have purchased season tickets and indeed individual tickets for future matches. These will of course still be valid for matches once we are able to begin playing again, and we also stand by our promise made before the season started. In the event of any early termination or reduction of the league season, we will either credit or refund supporters with the value of any home matches that are not played.

“We do hope that everyone who is associated with or supports the club will understand the reason for the decision made by the Isthmian League, and for our support of it. We very much hope that it will not be too long before we are able to welcome you all back into Nyewood Lane as soon as it is safe for everyone to do so.

“Everyone at the club wishes our wonderful supporters a very happy Christmas, and a much better New Year. We hope to see you very soon."

The Rocks' take on proceedings comes after the Isthmian League Statement earlier. It read: "As indicated previously the Isthmian League Board has met following the latest Government review and they have unanimously agreed to continue with the pause of the 2020/21 season.

"Since the initial survey on the 2nd December the infection rate has deteriorated in the geographical footprint of their member clubs, which has resulted in a much larger number of Isthmian League clubs being placed in Tier 3.

“In reaching this decision the board considered several factors such as the lack of income from secondary spend revenue, the reduced attendances at Tier 3 Clubs and more importantly, the duty of care the League has to players, club officials, volunteers and supporters during this current pandemic.

"The board will continue to monitor the situation in line with the Government review dates and/or any decision that allows Government grants to become available to member clubs. The board has not yet set a formal re-start date, but clubs will give at least 14 days’ notice of the recommencement of the 2020/21 season allowing them preparation time to stage league matches. It is also noted that the Southern League are taking a similar approach with their member clubs."
