Bognor secure services of ex-Burton and Southampton player for rest of season

Bognor boss Jack Pearce has signalled his intent to push for a play-off place in the Isthmian premier division by securing highly rated midfielder Jake Flannigan on loan from Havant & Waterlooville for the remainder of the season.

Flannigan joined the Rocks on a one-month loan from Westleigh Park last month but he hasn't figured since pulling up with a hamstring tweak in the defeat at Enfield.

But the schemer, who has had spells with Southampton and Burton, is fit again and will team up with the squad in readiness for the trip to second-from-bottom Merstham on Saturday. His arrival comes just as another influential central defender Joe Cook, another Hawk on loan at Nyewood Lane, returns to training with a view to being involved at Moatside.

And the Rocks will receive another timely boost in the near future when playmaker Doug Tuck is fit again.

Bognor have already recruited defender Kristian Campbell for his second stint with the club after he left Eastbourne Borough to strengthen their options as they try to snaffle a place in the play-offs.

Boss Pearce and coach Robbie Blake are delighted to secure Flannigan's services for the rest of the campaign.

Pearce said: "Jake was very unfortunate to get injured up at Enfield and it was a big blow because we were just starting to see all of the qualities that he undoubtedly possesses. It was an easy decision to take him for the rest of the season and, as ever, we thank Havant for all of their help.

"Jake is now a consideration for the Merstham game -- a match where you'll see two differing styles and approaches. They are fighting for their lives to stay in the division and we want to push on and reach the play-off positions. It bodes well as a spectacle for the fans, and we very much hope we can reward our supporters’ loyalty on the away trips with a victory."
