Bosham are glad to see the back of Barnham after another thriller

For the second time this season, Barnham denied Bosham a win with a 3-3 draw '“ again with a last-gasp equaliser to demoralise a Bosham side still searching for their best.

Despite tricky conditions caused by overnight rain, the teams did their level best to provide entertainment in this Sussex League division-three clash at Mill Road.

Bosham were ahead close to the half-hour when Graeme Dowden attacked down the right and fed top scorer Brad Miles, who finished.

It didn’t take long for Barnham to level. Mark Pedrick had already brought a smart save from Simon Keane but this time he was involved in a move that saw Keane drop the ball to enable the gleeful Matt Hibbert to poke in.

Four minutes later, Josh Parsons put the hosts ahead.

Bosham took five second-half minutes to pull level. Miles whipped in a cross that Joe Hancock put past Byron Kearns with a deft diving header.

The Reds restored their lead just after the hour when Dowden was put clear in a swift counter-attack and nonchalantly chipped Kearns.

James Ash and Dan Rehill made late appearances for the Reds but at the death, Keane had another moment to forget, dropping the ball under pressure and allowing Parsons to poke home his second. Ash went close to a late winner.

BOSHAM: Keane, Probee, Carrigher, Grantham, Mullen, Miles, Hounsome, Hartley, Dowden, Phillips, Hancock. Subs: Ash, D Rehill, Smith.
