Bosham can't get their Point across against Hurstpierpoint

Another week brought another tale of woe for an increasingly-frustrated Bosham, who were undone by two opportunist goals by Hurstpierpoint to fall to tenth in the Sussex League division three table.

Andy Probee returned after a spell on the sidelines and James Bracher was given another chance to try to impress.

Bosham exerted good early pressure but lacked the quality in the final third to unlock a rigid Blues defence, despite good work from the likes of Kieran Hartley and Joe Hancock.

On 20 minutes the Blues found their scoring touch to move in front with a rather soft goal scored by Nigel Geary. Ben Hall seemed to surprise the Bosham defence with a free-kick into the box and first to react with any purpose was Geary, who lunged at it at the near post and headed in.

The game became more expansive as the half wore on and Neil Redman was left frustrated when he went to head a delightful cross from Marco Giambelardini towards goal only for the ever-alert James Mckemey to pluck the ball away from him.

The second half ebbed and flowed but Hurstpierpoint moved into a two-goal lead just after the hour when Adam Boswood stabbed home through a melee of players after a scramble in the box.

Bosham were aghast that a foul hadn’t been awarded in favour of their keeper Simon Hasted.

The Reds huffed and puffed but couldn’t unlock the door and it was the Blues who were full of the joy at the final whistle.

These are troubled times for the team at Walton Lane but Bosham will feel their bad run must surely come to a close sooner rather than later.
