The Blues boss intends to speak with chairman Dickie Day at the club’s season-ending presentation tonight (Friday) to see if the club has a future after parent company Sidley Sports & Social Club recently ceased trading.

Lambert said: “Ninety percent of me probably will walk away. This time of year is my time to go round knocking on the doors of players, but I’ve got nothing to offer them and in that respect I don’t really know where I am.

“It’s hard enough most seasons, but now it’s even harder. I don’t even know if I’ve got a club to offer anyone. Depending on what he (Day) says, I will make my decision then.

“I think I’ve got as far as I can with it. I want to win things and I want to be trying to compete at different ends of the table, but I’m not sure it’s ever going to happen at Sidley. I know what I need, but I just can’t go and get it.”

Lambert completed his fourth season at Gullivers by winning the Hastings & District FA Senior Cup last weekend. He won promotion from Sussex County Football League Division Two at the first attempt in 2009/10 and has comfortably kept Sidley in Division One since then. Lambert stepped down in mid-October last year, but was swiftly persuaded to change his mind.

“I said I would come back and try to keep them in div one, and I’ve done that,” he continued. “People close to me knew what I was about when I came back. I told the players how it was going to be and they’ve been really good since then.

“This year’s been really draining. It’s taken it’s toll this year and it seems to have gone on forever. If Saturday was going to be Sidley’s last game, it was nice to win some silverware.”
