BOWLS: Grattons enjoy good start to summer season

The Summer season is going well at Pound Hill based bowls club Grattons.

Grattons played Kent club Sevenoaks and won by a remarkably decisive 124-90.

The top rink was Mike Beesley, Keith Stevens, Sue Gutteridge and Clive Keay, they won by a very convincing 22-8.

In an away match against East Sussex club Denton Island (Newhaven), Grattons led until the last few ends when Grattons lost the lead, the top rink was Paul Martin, Betty Paine, Jackie Cousins and Dave Addison who won by 17-15.

Captain Caroline said: “Both matches had been very enjoyable and everybody had a very good time.

“It had been particularly pleasing to see so many new players joining in the matches.”
