Bracklesham boys lift their first piece of silver

The BYFC under-11 squad won the Saywell Arun & Chichester Youth League Autumn Cup after a five-match tournament throughout September and October.

The trophy was awarded to the squad and coaches Gary Clarke and Mark Hudson by ACYLF fixtures secretary Dave Lover at their midweek training session on Wednesday, October 14.

Bracklesham Youth are based at Downview Park off Stocks Lane in Bracklesham Bay and are a growing club founded two years ago.

The club are now in their second season with four league teams at under-eight, under-nine, under-ten and under-11 level.

BYFC treasurer Sharon Briggs said: “We are a true community club with the majority of players and coaches living locally, many of them within walking distance of our home ground.

“We have also recently benefitted from a £3,000 donation from The Woodger Trust which will enable us to purchase more vital equipment and set us on the path to becoming and FA Charter Standard Club.

“The children, coaches and parents are all really proud of this trophy win and hopefully there will be many more to come!”

Avisford Youth 2 Worthing Town White 0

Avisford made it two wins out of three with a classy yet powerful performance against previously-unbeaten Worthing.

Following last week’s defeat against Whyke, Avisford had a point to prove and started well. But clear-cut chances were at a premium as both sides looked evenly matched.

Avisford were dealt a blow early on after they lost midfielder Max Heppenstall to injury. Worthing nearly took advantage through Danny Packham’s effort, but he found Klaudiusz Piasecki in fine form.

As the game wore on, Avisford began to take control. Five minutes into the half, they took a deserved lead.

Wiktor Nowak’s through-ball beat the Worthing offside trap to release Fin Brian and he made no mistake as he finished smartly past Leal.

Despite Packham beating substitute goalkeeper Luke Salter with his shot, Jake Longley managed to clear the ball to safety on the goal line.

The home side made the game safe eight minutes from time, Charlie Hunter being rewarded for a busy performance up front with a delightful chip over Leal.

The black and whites completed the victory to move them into the top four.

Premier United 0 Chichester City Colts 6

Colts travelled to Seaford, East Sussex in the second round of the CP Mason County Cup and came away victorious in a one-sided affair.

They opened the scoring after only four minutes through Toby Watkins, then three goals in five minutes effectively killed off the tie in the first half with strikes from Sam Jones, Toby Evans and Rock Rochester.

A further two goals in the second half from Watkins and Evans added the gloss to a fine team performance following last week’s setback. Colts’ supporters player of the match was Watkins.

Bognor Town 3 Barnham Trojans 0

Bognor eventually started to keep the ball better than Trojans, which led to the first goal – Will Lintott crossing the ball in for Ollie Humphries to bury.

Harley Bain controlled Bognor’s defence well with Louie Mockford-Allot, Kai Swansong and Antonio Maple keeping the backline secure.

Bognor opened the second half retaining possession with Mason Haga-Hammond, Ollie Hambleton and Ben Hauxwell controlling midfield with Ben Hauxwell sending a lofted pass over the top of Barnham’s defence for Humphries to smash home his second.

Bognor kept up the pressure and Humphries completed his hat-trick.
