Fulham keeper Alphonse Areola was excellent for the visitors but Albion were also wasteful in front of goal with Leo Trossard, Neal Maupay and Solly March all missing chances.

The game sees Brighton’s winless run at home in the Premier League stretch to 14 games, with their last victory having come last season against Arsenal on June 20.

Brighton had 16 shots during the game, with four on target and 10 corners, but were unable to find the breakthrough.

In the end they were thankful to Dunk's last minute goal line clearance to deny Ruben Loftus-Cheek a late winner.

Defeat would have been harsh on Brighton but Dunk is concerned about the missed the chances as they remain just five points above the drop.

"That is as good as a goal for me," said Dunk on his remarkable last ditch clearance. "Luckily I was in the right position to clear off the line otherwise they would have won the game.

"We need to improve on taking our chances. You look at the glorious chances we had in the first half especially. We need to be going in at halftime winning.

"We have to go back, look at it and make sure we start putting the ball in the back of the net."

Brighton are however unbeaten in their three and have kept clean sheets in their last two Premier League matches.

"Yeah, we didn't concede we kept a clean sheet," Dunk added. "Frustrating we didn't score but it is a point. It would have been a big if it had went wither for each side but a point keeps it the same so we keep going.

"It's frustrating that we haven't won at our ground but it used to be a fortress in the Championship and we need to turn it back into that.

"Every year we have been in the Premier League we have been in this position (near the bottom). We have a few new faces but the core of the side have been here a long time. We know what we have to do."

Albion boss Graham Potter was also disappointed with just a point from a match they largely dominated.

“They had one chance first half on the break and obviously the chance at the end for them, but apart from that I thought we were the one pushing in the game.

“So positive in terms of the performance, positive in terms of the attitude in the camp and the personality of the players but disappointed not to get the three points.”
