As expected, Graham Potter made wholesale changes to the team that lost a bruising encounter to Chelsea. Adam Lallana (calf) and Ben White (ankle) were both unavailable having sustained injuries during the loss to Frank Lampard's men.

Potter was keen to give minutes to his fringe players against League one Portsmouth tonight ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash at Newcastle.

Dutch internationals Davy Propper and Joel Veltman both line-up against Pompey and there is also a starting role for Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Jayson Molumby, who impressed on loan at Millwall last campaign, also has a chance to stake his claim for a regular role this season.

Young left back Alex Cochrane, who was earlier linked with a loan switch to Portsmouth, starts on the bench.

Brighton XI: Steele, Molumby, Veltman, Burn, Bernardo; Mac Allister, Stephens, Propper, Gross, Jahanbakhsh, Gyökeres. Subs: Sanders, Roberts, Cochrane, Yapi, Gwargis, Sanchez, Dendoncker

@AJ_BHAFC Decent. Youth and experience. Get the job done boys #BHAFC

@MikeKing14_Hoping to see a bit of Yapi and Lars Dendoncker tonight!

@SurreyBHAFC: That is arguably as talented as our first team was in our first PL season. Impressive lineup.

@AJ_BHAFC Tonight’s game isn’t a priority but I really hope we win. I love a cup run and another competition would give GP so much more scope to experiment with our squad and see if the younger players such as Yapi and Gwargis can cut it at a decent level. #BHAFC

@GeddesChris Just 11 changes then. I thought we’d have some firepower on the bench.....just in case! #bhafc

@BenDinnery No Lallana after limping off on Monday night. Ben White, Izquierdo and Walton are also missing.

@Jaswanarth 3-5-1-1? No idea....Still, looking forward to seeing Molumby and Gyokeres and assessing their progress #bhafc

@AnnieTheDog7 Full of pace in midfield then! Glad Molumby has been given an opportunity and hope Mac Allister shows up well.

@TheMattBarker: Literally everyone is missing. 11 changes and entire bench....

@Virgos_Haircut Will we lose to Pompey on penalties then? #bhafc
