Brighton transfer news: Albion ace wanted by Arsenal as Liverpool and Manchester United open talks West Ham's Declan Rice

Mat Ryan was forced to issue an apology to Brighton and Hove Albion fans earlier this week following comments he made regarding his January move to Arsenal.

The Australian moved to the Emirates for the remainder of the season after falling out of favour with Graham Potter – and his words suggested he isn’t intending to return to the Amex.

And according to The Sun, he might not have to, as the Gunners hope to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.

Ryan made his debut for Mikel Arteta’s men in the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on February 6 after number one Bernd Leno was missing.

Although Ryan will predominantly be used as a back-up to the German, Arteta is keen to tie the 28-year-old down a longer-term deal, alongside Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

Technical director Edu will now look to work on the finer details to get an agreement finalised with Albion. Ryan is under contract until 2021.

Meanwhile, Brighton full-back has suffered a knee ligament injury whilst on loan at Red Bull Salzburg.

The Austrian club have confirmed Bernardo will miss several weeks – likely to be sidelined until March.

Bernado has already missed Salzburg’s last four games since picking up the injury against SV Ried on January 27.
