According to BN DeStem Brighton have agreed a £1.8 million fee with NAC for the 20-year-old, which could rise to £2.7 million depending on appearances.

The Seagulls have recently signed Adam Lallana, Jensen Weir alongside Holland international Joel Veltman from Ajax, but it appears that the club are interested in signing another Dutchman.

The report also states Graham Potter plans to loan Van Hecke out with FC Utrecht in Holland’s top flight the prefered destination.

The centre back was linked with a move to AS Monaco earlier in the summer, but it appears the Seagulls have pipped the Ligue 1 club to the punch.

Defenders Lewis Dunk, Ben White and Shane Duffy have all been linked with moves away from the south coast this summer – with West Ham United, Leeds United and Chelsea all reportedly interested.
