A £3.6m agreement to sign the Kosovan Swiss striker Andi Zeqiri is reported to have been reached and medicals are expected to be completed in the next few hours.

The 6ft 1in forward had looked set to join Parma and there was also interest from Wolfsburg, Nice and Marseille but Brighton, who have been searching for a striker all summer, appear to have landed their target.

Zeqiri, 21, was born in Lausanne, Switzerland to Kosovan parents. He represented Switzerland youth teams from under-15 to under-21 level but last month president of Football Federation of Kosovo confirmed he will be called up to play for Kosovo.

He is expected to play for them in October in their Euro 2020 qualifying play-offs against North Macedonia and for the 2020–21 Nations League matches against Slovenia and Greece.

He scored nine goals in nine appearances for the Swiss under-21s and 28 goals from 93 matches for FC Lausanne-Sport, who compete in the Swiss Super League.

It is thought Zeqiri is set to start in the Albion under-23s with a view to a loan in January.
