Graham Potter said he is yet to decide if Danny Welbeck will make his debut against West Brom but revealed that the striker has made a 'really good first impression' at Brighton.

Albion face West Brom at the Amex on Monday evening, with Albion looking for their second win of the season.

Former Manchester United, Arsenal and Watford man Welbeck, 29, is available to make his first appearance, after joining the Seagulls ahead of last week's 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.

Asked if Welbeck would be involved on Monday Potter said: "We'll see. He's only had a couple of days with us but he's made a really good first impression.

"He's a really fit guy, he's looked after himself really well as a professional. It's just about integrating him with the team and getting some team training. He's had a session today and we've got a couple more before the game.

"We'll probably take the decision as close as we can to the game. But he's looking good, he's made a really good impression."

Potter said he was 'delighted' with the signing of Welbeck, who he spoke to before making the move.

He added: "I think he brings a lot to the group, on and off the pitch, and our challenge now is just to help him get up to speed, because he has not been training with a team for a while.

"We need to get him up to speed to play in the Premier League and, if we do that, I think we've got a really good player with us."

Brighton have so far only managed to pick up four points from five games, despite a succession of impressive performances.

When asked if his side have deserved to pick up more points, Potter said: "Ultimately, if you don't score the goals and you concede the goals, you don't deserve anything.

"Our performances have been in good and with a bit more luck, you might have ended up with more points. We haven't got them.

"There's no point feeling sorry for ourselves or thinking anything other than how can we improve our performances. How can we turn our performances into better results. That's the challenge."

Potter, who made 43 appearances for West Brom as a player between 1997 and 2000, is not expecting an easy game against the newly-promoted side.

He said: "It's a Premier League game against a team that's fighting and earned the right to be here. We played them in pre-season and drew 0-0. It was a tough game.

"They had a draw against Chelsea, a good draw for them, and they recently drew against Burnley with a clean sheet. Every team in the league is fighting.

"We'll try our best to get a positive result which is three points. We'll see what happens."
