Albion technical director David Weir said, “We would like to thank Steven for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Adam Lallana had already confirmed he would leave the club before the end of the season; while James Milner and Danny Welbeck agreed new contracts earlier this month.
Brighton’s search for a new manager continues after the parted company with previous boss Roberto De Zerbi. Former head coach Graham Potter remains favourite with the bookmakers to take the role, along with former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and Malmo’s Henrik Rydstrom.
