Brighton transfer news: Albion plot swoop for EPL teenager, Fresh update on raid for South American striker

Brighton are in the running to lure Everton defender Thierry Small away from Goodison Park this summer.

That's according to the Express, who have run a piece on the starlet’s uncertain future on Merseyside.

Small is still only 16, and became the Toffees’ youngest ever first team player back in January during an FA Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

However, that five minute cameo hasn’t been enough to convince the youngster that his future lies with Everton, and it is understood that the has turned down the offer of a three-year professional contract as he seeks a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Manchester United and Chelsea are named as two potential suitors, but neither are seen as offering the level of first team opportunity that small would be looking for.

As such, Brighton, Leeds United, and Brentford are all looking to enter the race for the player, and are set to assure him of a tangible path to the first team as a means of securing his services.

In that respect, Albion could hold a significant advantage given the obvious parallels between Small and another highly-rated full-back, Tariq Lamptey.

The 20-year-old took the plunge and left Chelsea to join the Seagulls, and has made a massive impact in his first full season at the Amex.

Injuries have derailed his campaign somewhat, but prior to being sidelined, the defender was being touted for a move to the likes of Arsenal, and was being discussed as a future England international.

Elsewhere, Brighton are yet to make a formal approach to sign River Plater forward Rafael Borre.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in Argentina this summer, and TNT Sports reported earlier in the week that Albion had emerged as contenders for his signature.

Now, however, fellow Argentine publication Ole claim that Graham Potter’s men are still yet to make their move for the player, who has hit five goals in seven games this season.

That update is likely to please journalist Rodolfo Cingolani, who told Tyc Sports: "There’s a chance he goes to a third-line team in Europe.

"Borre in Europe will surely end up playing for Brighton, Osasuna or Alaves – teams that I don’t know if they’ll be able to answer due to their football characteristics.”
