Albion went ahead in the game through Glenn Murray but the lead lasted just 83 seconds as goals from Sergio Aguero, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan took City to a second successive title.

On City's title triumph, Ryan said: "Words don't do anything. What they go out and do speaks loud enough and also the points tally they finished with.

"Having more than any other team warrants the title and they've gone out and done that. Across the board in all competitions they've been quite strong. They'll probably feel they've fallen short of their European aspirations but they've won the league, one cup and they've got another cup to go.

"It's still been a successful season and congratulations to them."

Looking back on the game, Ryan felt Albion needed to hold onto their lead for longer than they managed.

He said: "It was a bit of a shame they scored so soon after we went ahead. It's a common lapse of concentration after going ahead.

"The side we are and the side they are, they're going to have a lot of the possession and be knocking quite hard on the door for a long period of time.

"We did well in the opening of the match to thwart them and to take the lead. It was probably the worst thing that could happen that they hit back so quickly.

"It just got away from us in the end disappointingly."
