Brighton transfer news: Target 'certain' to leave current club, Albion player urged to join giants

Brighton have been handed a significant boost in their bid to sign Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir this summer.

That's according to Fotospor, who are reporting that the stopper’s current employers Trabzonspor already have a replacement in mind for the 25-year-old.

That man is Kayserispor goalkeeper Dogan Alemdar, and it is claimed that contact has already been made over a potential move.

The piece goes on to suggest that Cakir will be sold for around £17.3 million, with a summer exit now deemed all but “certain”.

The seven-cap Turkish international has conceded just 30 goals in 31 top flight games this season, keeping 12 clean sheets in that spell.

Whether Brighton would be looking to bring Cakir in as cover or competition for Robert Sanchez remains unclear, but this latest development certainly casts doubt over Mat Ryan’s future on the south coast.

Elsewhere, former Boca Juniors star Chicho Serna has claimed that recent Albion signing Moises Caicedo should join the Argentine giants in the future.

Speaking to Futbol Sin Cassette, he said: “You have to tell Caicedo to come, to live a Boca experience, that he will not regret it. It seems to me that he’s a player who has all the arguments to wear the Boca jersey.

“And it would be beautiful because it would improve the Ecuadorian relationship with Argentina, it would open the doors of the Boca world; as compatriots, you should advise him that way. Here, from afar, he has a person who admires him and who sees great potential in him.”
