There have already been a number of top-flight transfers completed so far and even though the clock is ticking rapidly towards the 11pm deadline, anything can still happen.
But a South American football expert has warned the Seagulls about their next steps for the Ecuador sensation.
Most of the deadline day talk has centred around Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp closes in on two new central defenders - and surprise ones at that.
Klopp is currently without Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho, leaving the Reds extremely short at the back. However, it seems he’s found a solution or two.
Preston North End’s Ben Davies is closing in on a swoop £2million move, while a deal for Schalke’s Ozan Kabak is edging ever closer after the German club recruited Shkodran Mustafi from Arsenal.
Indeed, both Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury could also be on the move to West Brom and Newcastle, respectively.
Maitland-Niles had attracted interest from a number of clubs but it looks as though the Baggies will win the race ahead of Southampton and Leicester.
Leicester's failed attempt to bring Maitland-Niles to the King Power Stadium could have repercussions on Newcastle and their desire to sign Choudhury.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers says he is in no rush to sanction Choudhury’s exit. It seems he will only do so if Rodgers finds a replacement. Watford’s Nathaniel Chalobah is an option.
But they aren’t the only deals hitting the headlines, with plenty more to keep an eye on.
Here’s a round-up of some of the other deadline day rumours involving Brighton and their top-flight rivals ahead of the deadline:
