The tournament, to be held in England, has been held back for a year after the men's European Championship and the Tokyo Olympics were both postponed until 2021 because of coronavirus.

As it stands, Brighton will remain one of the 10 hosts for the tournament that will now run July 6-31. The FA will be following up with venues and the respective cities in the coming weeks to reconfirm if they want to and can host again in 2022.

Brentford Community Stadium, Wembley Stadium, Manchester City Academy Stadium, Stadium MK, Rotherham's New York Stadium, Sheffield United's Bramall Lane, St. Mary’s Stadium, Old Trafford and Wigan & Leigh: Leigh Sports Village are the other venues.

Switching the Euros to 2022 will avoid contesting two women's tournaments in the same summer.

England, the Netherlands and Sweden have already qualified for the Olympics, which will now take place in the summer of 2021.
