According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A giants are interested in the Brighton midfielder, who is expected to be available for around £30million.

The win sent the Albicelestes into the knockout stages, topping Group D despite losing their opening game of the competition to Saudi Arabia, in one of the greatest upsets in World Cup history.

Mac Allister did not start in the 2-1 defeat, which ended the Argentine’s 36-game unbeaten run, but was brought in by manager Lionel Scaloni to play alongside Guido Rodríguez and Rodrigo De Paul in the centre of the park against Mexico.

The red-haired midfielder’s energy and clever use of the ball was evident throughout the game, helping his side to an important 2-0 win.

These two high-quality performances have clearly raised interest in Mac Allister’s services, who’s importance for both his club and country has drastically grown in the last two years.

In the last 15 months, he has become a regular starter for the club, due to the continued injury problems for Adam Lallana and sale of Yves Bissouma to Tottenham.

So far this season, Mac Alister has scored five goals in fourteen league starts for Brighton. His midfield partnership with Moises Caicedo has been pivotal to Albion’s strong start this season, with the Seagulls currently seventh in the Premier League table.
