The Premier League was suspended until April 30 earlier today and Albion players and officials will meet to discuss their plans during the coronavirus outbreak.

Brighton players were in as usual for training but on Monday they were sent home and told to be their families and train at home.

“It was a pretty sensible decision to make to send the players home,” said Potter. “They all want to be with their families and obviously it means that if anyone showed signs of the virus they could self-isolate and not risk contaminating anyone else in the group.

"This is an unprecedented situation in the world and we have to be very mindful that when people are dying of this illness it puts football into perspective."

Albion were all set to face Arsenal last Saturday but that was postponed after it was confirmed their manager Mikel Arteta contracted the disease.

Brighton's return to action was due to be on April 4 against Manchester United but the Premier League extended the suspensions today until April 30.

Potter added: “We’ll take stock on Friday. We will plan as much as possible but this is a global situation and things are changing all the time.

"The players are pretty fit at this time of the season so they can just tick over at home if necessary.”

“Please, look after your families, friends and each other and stay safe. The thoughts of everyone in the club are with our supporters throughout the world and hopefully we will see you together at the Amex again soon.”
