Connolly, 20, will miss Ireland's three matches against England, Wales and Bulgaria due to a 'minor' hamstring injury sustained in training on Tuesday.

A tweet from FA Ireland read: "Aaron Connolly will miss the three matches through injury whilst Callum Robinson has now been confirmed as the COVID-19 case."

It's a huge blow for Connolly who has struggled for regular game time this season with Albion.

His one Premier League goal this campaign arrived in the 3-0 win at Newcastle.

The striker was in contention to start for Stephen Kenny's Ireland side against England at Wembley.

It's the latest international setback as it follows his withdrawal last month because of close contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.

Kenny said: “It is very frustrating. Aaron will be a terrific player for Ireland.

“The frustrating part of Aaron’s injury is he will only be ruled out for 10 days. It just happens we have three games in that period.”
