Both Murray and club captain Lewis Dunk have been in discussions with the club’s hierarchy about wage reduction deals to help during the coronavirus crisis.

Last Thursday Albion chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said he hoped find a solution very soon after the Easter weekend.

Barber, technical director Dan Ashworth and head coach Graham Potter all took "significant" pay cuts but as yet the first team players - who were given time off until May 1 - remain on full pay.

Murray and Dunk have been acting as representatives for the players during the talks. Last week the club stated discussions had taken slightly longer than expected as some players are overseas.

Barber insisted they had been "transparent and open" with the players regarding the club's finances and Murray admitted talks have shown how the pandemic and suspension of the Premier League has impacted the football club.

"As far and me and Lewis are concerned it’s been a bit of an eye-opener, but it’s been really good," said Murray speaking to the club's website.

"The talks that we’ve had with Paul Barber and Dan Ashworth have been very positive. It’s bringing the club together even more."

Murray added, "Footballers are always in the community and trying to help. There will always be rivalry in football for the fans, but during these sorts of times everyone comes together.

"The club has always prided itself on the work it does in the community, certainly all the time that I’ve been here.

"The club has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and we’ve maintained that connection with the local area."
