The Mali international has been in dazzling form for Brighton this season and has been linked with a possible January move to Arsenal or Liverpool.

Arsenal are keen to strengthen in the centre of the pitch and Mikel Arteta may feel the 24-year-old is an upgrade on his current midfield crop.

Premier League champions Liverpool are also said to monitoring Bissouma, who is contracted with Brighton until the summer of 2023.

The Reds are keen to assess their options as their Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is out of contract at the end of the season.

Brighton boss Graham Potter was relaxed about the speculation surrounding his star midfielder.

"I have never been a coach that worries about losing a player," said Potter.

"If you worry about losing players to teams higher up the hierarchy – because that’s ultimately what it is – and the club think selling the player is the right thing to do, then it’s a result of doing something well.

"I don’t think you should ever worry about that. It’s part of football and a lot of it is talk, speculation or nonsense.

"There’s always truth as well somewhere, but I am not worried about anything. I am just helping the players to improve, to get them to the highest level of performance that I can and then we will see."

Arsenal fans on social seemed mostly in favour of bringing Bissouma to the Emirates:

@EduardoHagn: Arteta knows players. Bissouma is so, so good. Bissouma-Partey needed.

@ltarsenal: In the game today, you need legs in midfield. You can pair Xhaka with Partey or Ceballos with Partey and find a balance but when you pair Xhaka-Ceballos, we are too slow. Elneny is quite limited on the ball. Bissouma would be a fantastic signing.

@rehnato: Now we’re talking. Bissouma is quality, very underrated player

@Gooner_Eurychus: Arsenal signing Bissouma & Szoboszlai would bring some incredible balance and upgrade in our midfield alongside Partey. Don't disappoint Arsenal. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

@afcdxn: Liverpool signed Mane, wijnaldumn and Robertson to name a few from the bottom half sides and I feel that Bissouma could be the start of very smart recruitment for us.

@Faaabianskiii: Robertson, Mane, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Shaqiri, Jota all came from teams who were mid-table/bottom half of the Premiership. Maybe we should not turn our noses up at Bissouma

@owenbhafc___: Bissouma isn’t going anywhere in January Thumbs up

@LenaneJoe: I see all these links with Yves Bissouma, I’ve rated him for quite a while, could be a quality signing for the price.

@TopBinsTalk: Yves Bissouma has been all season. Athletic, robust, technically sound, dictates the tempo from deep, constantly wins duels, plays neat, progressive passes, and protects the backline brilliantly. He, like Brighton, is massively underrated.

@ryanadsett: It's going to take a massive bid for us to even consider looking in that direction, let alone listen to and accept.
