Michael Owen offers worrying prediction for Arsenal at Brighton despite Chelsea win
Former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Arsenal will have their work cut out at lowly Brighton if they want to build on their excellent win against Chelsea.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta guided his team to a crucial 3-1 win against Frank Lampard's Chelsea on Sunday and victory at Brighton would improve the mood further at the Emirates.
Brighton have also had their struggles this season and despite playing some decent football they hover dangerously close to the drop zone in 16th place.
Graham Potter's team drew 2-2 at West Ham on Sunday but it's their home form that continues to cause concern.
The last time Brighton won at home was way back in June against Arsenal when Neal Maupay fired home a 95th minute winner in a fiercely contested 2-1 triumph.
Tariq Lamptey is set to miss out for Brighton with hamstring injury and Adam Lallana is struggling with a groin problem.
Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes will miss this game after coming into close contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.
David Luiz and Willian are also ill but have both tested negative for Covid-19.
"Both these sides could do with a win," wrote Owen in his Betvictor predictions blog"We all know about Arsenal’s troubles, but Brighton aren’t doing much better.
"The Seagulls have slid down the league table and despite looking good at times, there have been too many slip ups.
"Despite both teams being out of form, I think both managers will fancy winning this. That said, it’s hard to make a case for either side and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it ended all square."
Michael Owen prediction: 1-1
