Potter's slip of the tongue in Thursday's press conference strongly hinted Ecuador international Caicedo is very close to becoming a Brighton player.
When asked about media reports that the midfielder was on his way to England this afternoon (Saturday, January 23), Potter said he had 'no update'.
He added: "I've been focusing on the game [against Blackpool] so nothing further to add."
Potter was pleased to see his side progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over their League One opponents but admitted it should have been a more comfortable scoreline.
"When it's just one goal, anything can happen," he said. "They don't have to do too much to get an opportunity.
"That's what we're a little bit disappointed with but that can happen. We've just got to improve again for next time.
"We're in the second half of the season and players are in a good rhythm. We made six changes but you'd expect a strong side.
"I'm pleased with the guys that came in, they got some more time and I got more information about our squad.
"In the end, it's a pleasing afternoon. We could have won by more. It was a professional and controlled performance."
