All fixtures in England's Premier League, EFL, Women's Super League and Women's Championship, and Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, are currently postponed.

The FA also agreed today that the current season can be "extended indefinitely" after the postponement of Euro 2020 allowed an opportunity for domestic league fixtures to go into June.

As it stands, the UK government has effectively banned sports events by advising against mass gatherings.

What the Premier League said

"We are united in our commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019-20 football season and ensuring all domestic and European club league and cup matches are played as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

"We have collectively supported Uefa in postponing EURO 2020 to create space in the calendar to ensure domestic and European club league and cup matches have an increased opportunity to be played and, in doing so, maintain the integrity of each competition.

"The progress of COVID-19 remains unclear and we can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority. We will continue to follow Government advice and work collaboratively to keep the situation under review and explore all options available to find ways of resuming the season when the conditions allow."

Yes. Brighton have just three player contracts that expire at the end of this June, Ezequiel Schelotto, Beram Kayal and Leon Balogun (on loan at Wigan). If the season continues after June, discussions will take place to see players can extend week by week, if that suits both parties.

Here's what Dan Burn said:

"Personally I would not want to play behind closed doors. But if you ask any player, then you have just got to finish the season and do what needs to be done.

"From a personal point of view it will be a bit strange (playing without fans). That's what you want when you grow up, is to play in front of fans and big stadiums.

"But obviously it is unprecedented what's happening at the minute and you have just got to do whatever the government and Premier League think is best."

Premier League Arsenal, who were due to play Albion last Saturday, support the decision to further postpone play until 30 April. "We have now reopened with a small workforce to maintain the facilities and training pitches, while a number of staff, including Mikel and the men's first team squad, are currently isolating at home, " said the statement.

"We're pleased to say that Mikel is feeling much better. He's in good spirits, doing detailed planning with the coaches and speaking to the players regularly."
