Percy Tau's starring role one of many positives for Graham Potter after West Ham draw

Graham Potter admitted he was a 'bit disappointed' after his side failed to hold on for three points against West Ham but has taken plenty of positives from the performance.

Potter said a 'draw was fair' after Said Benrahma's fine, curling strike cancelled out Danny Welbeck's chipped effort in the final ten minutes.

He said: "It could have been a bit more as were 1-0 up with not long to go [but] I wouldn't say we deserved to win.

"I'm a bit disappointed with the end but it's a decent point against a team who have had a really good season and were fighting for the points.

"It's a credit to the players again, they limited a good team to not many chances."

Second-half substitute Percy Tau played a starring role, setting up Welbeck's goal with a perfectly weighted through-ball.

"It was a nice goal from us," Potter said. "It was a great finish and a great pass from Percy.

"Percy came on and had a really good impact. He found some nice space and it was a great weight of pass for a nice assist."

It was a rare appearance for the South African, with Potter revealing he thought the forward's attributes 'fitted the role' tonight.

He added: "I wanted fresh legs in that position.

"I thought Percy with his left foot could give us versatility in behind that back-line."

The draw meant Brighton have now dropped a record 25 points from winning positions this season but Potter was again keen to take the positives

"You can see it [taking the lead] as a positive," he said. "It shows we are doing things well in certain areas.

"It would be nice to get more points. Results wise, we feel we can do more and get more. That's where the work is.

"There were a couple of actions we could have done better with our defensive duties but we were also a bit unlucky with ricochets. That can happen but you also have to credit the opposition."
