Brighton transfer news: PL giants plot swoop for Albion favourite, Newcastle United set to offload midfielder

Liverpool are considering making a move for Brighton defender Ben White.

That’s according to the Dominic King of the Daily Mail, who has delivered a detailed account of where the Reds’ transfer plans are at currently.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp’s men are not one of the sides interested in signing Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero this summer, but are instead prioritising a centre-back.

The champions have been ravaged by injuries at the heart of defence this term, and have fielded 21 partnerships in that position already.

That’s where White comes in, with King suggesting that the Albion player is one of two new defenders that Liverpool are looking at this summer – the other being RB Leipzig’s Ibrahim Konate.

In more promising news for the Seagulls, however, it is suggested that the Reds will move to sign the latter before the end of the season, with a verbal agreement already said to be in place.

White has enjoyed a positive season on the south coast, and has featured in 29 Premier League matches to date.

Elsewhere, relegation rivals Newcastle United could be set to offload midfielder Kyle Scott, according to Football Insider.

The former Chelsea player, 23, joined the Magpies on a free transfer in 2019, but is still yet to make his senior debut in the north east.

With Scott’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, it is understood that MLS outfit FC Cincinnati – managed by Jaap Stam – have offered him a deal, and are keen to wrap up a transfer in the coming days.
