Brighton transfer news: PL rivals look to hijack Albion raid, BBC pundit urges club to sign Seagulls star

Brighton could take a major step towards survival with a win over Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

Ordinarily, the Blues would be firm favourites in this one, and to many they still will be, but it should be interesting to see what, if any, effect that recent uproar over their plan to join a new European Super League has had on Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Liverpool certainly looked as if they struggled to properly get going against Leeds United on Monday night, and they limped to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road accordingly.

When asked whether removing relegation from a division is a bad thing, Albion boss Graham Potter said: “I would have to say yes.

"Sport is about the consequences of failure and the possibility of success.

"I can speak on both things in terms of experiencing the concerns of relegation now, at the same time at Ostersunds you always had the dream of Champions League and getting that moment against one of the big teams.”

He added: “To be honest, I haven’t read into it too much. Of course the headlines are there, they are disturbing and they are things for us to consider,” he said.

“I have just been preparing for the game against Chelsea (on Tuesday evening).

“I am pretty sure the chairman and Paul Barber will speak in terms of the club’s position and that’s pretty much where I’m at the moment.”
