Brighton transfer news: Pundit hypes up bargain deal, Albion plot forward raid on English club

Brighton missed out on a golden opportunity to move closer to Premier League survival by dropping points against bottom side Sheffield United over the weekend.

Albion are currently seven points clear of the relegation zone with five games to go, but could have made that gap 10 points had they been able to beat the division’s bottom side.

Instead, a David McGoldrick strike was enough to settle the clash, landing a humbling blow to the Seagulls, who have been in impressive form of late.

Next up for Graham Potter’s men is a tricky clash against a resurgent Leeds United.

Speaking about the game, the Brighton manager said: "It's a frustrating result.

"The performance wasn't probably the level it has been recently. We didn't have the quality we can have. When that happens in the Premier League it can be hard.

"We had some opportunities but it is up to us to do better. It was up to us to create more."

On his side's seven-point safety cushion, he added: "It's not enough because there's a lot of points to play for. We have to just focus on one game at a time.

"Every opponent is fighting for something.

"Football is about scoring goals and we didn't do it today. We pushed and pushed, maybe could have got a goal but it was not to be. We needed a bit more quality over the course of the game."
