'Supercomputer' predicts where Brighton, Leeds and Aston Villa will finish in the Premier League

A sophisticated ‘supercomputer’ has been used to predict where Brighton and their 2020/21 Premier League rivals are likely to finish in the table.

FiveThirtyEight’s data model uses statistics to map out the season, and they are predicting another close race for the Premier League title.

Brighton have nine points from their first nine matches and Graham Potter's team are expected to rise up the table and build on their recent win at Aston Villa.

The model anticipates a nerve-jangling battle to avoid the drop for a number of teams and predicts grim news for Chris Wilder's Sheffield United.

It also throws up a few surprises in the race for the European football next season.
