The NINE transfers Manchester United and Erik ten Hag still hope to complete before Brighton opener

Manchester United start their Premier League campaign against Brighton and Hove Albion on August 7 at Old Trafford

It will give home fans the first chance to assess the work Erik ten Hag and the new management team have carried out on the squad since taking over.

United have enjoyed a largely successful pre-season on the tour of Thailand and Australia but have also been frustrated in some of their attempts to land key transfer targets.

They have so far added Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez but Ten Hag is keen to add more – and also trim the players who could be deemed surplus to requirements.

"We signed [Christian] Eriksen for the midfield department, so we are really happy with that," Ten Hag said.

"But I also know about this season – we talk about it in Bangkok and Melbourne – it's a lot of games, the World Cup, so we need more options. You need a good squad to get the right results at the end of the season.”

"So we have to strengthen the squad even more and we are looking around but we also need the right players.

"There is a reason in a number of games you need more options in offence, clear. I think it's vital if you want to get success, the season is really long but we still also have time to fill that in."

Here’s the nine players United will be keen to add and exit ahead of August 7.
