The Seagulls will be sending more players then Liverpool (7), West Ham (5) and Newcastle (5), ranking sixth highest out of all the Premier League clubs – behind Arsenal (10), Tottenham (11), Chelsea (12), Manchester United (14) and Manchester City (16).

If all eight Brighton players were to be knocked out in the group stage, Albion would still make about $1.9m from the tournament, while Manchester City will generate a minimum amount of just under $4m.

However, players like Alexis Mac Allister (Argentina) and Leandro Trossard (Belgium) are a part of squads expected to go far in the competition, so the sum Brighton will receive is expected to be greater then the minimum amount.

The other six – Tariq Lamptey (Ghana), Karou Mitoma (Japan) and the Ecuadorian trio of Moises Caicedo, Pervis Estupiñán and Jeremy Sarmiento – will all be a part of sides who will fancy their chances of getting out of the group stage and extending their stay in the competition.

For clubs like Crystal Palace, Southampton and Bournemouth, the World Cup will not be as lucrative. All three clubs are sending two players each, equating to a minimum total of $375,000 for each team.

Clubs who have had World Cup players on their books in the last two years will also get a share of the money, meaning Brighton will receive compensation payment for players such as Maty Ryan (Australia) and Ben White (England).

Equally, it will affect their payments for players brought in from other clubs during this period – Lamptey (Chelsea), Caicedo (Independiente del Valle), Mitoma (Kawasaki Frontale), Estupiñán (Villarreal).
